Land Rover Defender. It's the best off-roader ever built except for one thing that has seemingly been overlooked in 66 years of continuous development: an actual interior with actual seats and actual trim.

Proudly so:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindustan…
The Hindustan Ambassador is a car manufactured by Hindustan Motors of India. It has been in production since 1958 with few improvements or changes and is based on the Morris Oxford III model, first made by the Morris Motors Limited at Cowley, Oxford in the United Kingdom from 1956 to 1959.
That's understating things slightly, because the Oxford III wasn't much of a change from the Oxford II, first built in '54.

Sigh...My own car...
When it was released in 2008, there were no other ICE powered cars that got anywhere close to it in fuel economy. Now everything smaller than a F-150 either gets close or exceeds it.
The engine and suspension are also very outdated...The suspension predates almost a century ago and the engine uses decade old tech...
That said, other parts of the car (safety engineering, interior layout, overall concept, etc) are still on par with times or ahead of time.
That said, this is ALL irrelevant, seeing that there will be an all new replacement later this year.

But I have to hand it to Toyota for successfully (very successfully!) selling the same damn thing, literally, this whole time.
My knee-jerk reaction is to rage at Toyota for doing this, but really it's consumers that deserve to be hated. If we didn't put up with it, we wouldn't buy it, and then Toyota would stop selling it in current old-ass form. There is no one to blame but society.

Chevrolet Nexia. It's still being built in Uzbekistan. And it's a 1980s Vauxhall Belmont recycled through Daewoo's 1980s/90s car crapifier, and updated with different plastic bits. The chassis dates to 1979. Some of the body panels date back to 1984 - 30 years ago . We knew it in America way back in 1988 as this:

Poor sales are part to blame for a tiny dealer network and the fact that Mercedes Benz USA is apparently not too keen on advertising.
There are some owners that have to drive over 500 miles to get to the nearest dealer.
Can't sell cars if nobody knows who you are, Suzuki NA tried working that way and look where that got them...
And thanks! Ironically I have the only one of this colour in my county. It's hilarious because everyone knows where I am all the time.

Yeah, the Suzuki Kizzahchchchchchchchchchssszzzzkkiiiih would have done good, if I even knew where a Suzuki dealer was. Smart's were good in cities that had the dealers. My nearest dealership was about 45 minutes away. Where do you get your's serviced, Mercedes dealer?

I thought the Dodge Caliber was outdated and sad even when it first shipped. I was not sorry to see that thing retired. It was just like they really, really didn't care any more. Somebody probably did, but their bosses certainly didn't.

My nearest dealer is give or take 40 miles (it used to be just 19 miles but they closed that one down). I've only had it serviced by Mercedes for the 10k service...at the tune of $130.
They wanted $450 for the 20k service, which was then I decided I was better off doing it myself for 1/4 the price.

a mainly fleet work van doesn't need to be updates. They get shit MPGs but if it gets the job done and don't rust to hell in 10 years it doesn't matter.

Yeah, the regular ones weren't fast, but that's what Skip Barber was using at the time, and they were surprisingly fun to hoon around the track. "More fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow," and all that. :-)

You can't blame them, there are a lot of A to B drivers out there who are boring and want nothing but a reliable four door. They buy it, they sell it, in Japan we have ten times the number of models the US has and many of them are really unexciting.

Chevy SS?? Its a rebadged G8, which was last around in what 2009?? The G8 was a rebadged Holden from 2006, which means it was engineered in 2004-2005? So if you buy an SS this year, you're driving 10 yr old engineering. Thats pretty bad right?

Morgan. Nothing else even comes close.
Wooden body structure and sliding pillar (think 1911) front suspension. Sold that way into the 1980s, maybe later.
And dammit I want one something fierce.

THIS. They are beyond outdated, the interiors are made of nasty Little Tykes plastic, etc. And I LOVE them. We have one with 350k that is still plugging along (of course with the check engine light on). They drive ok in the snow, and they are tough as hell. I was driving it when a Honda Accord committed suicide into it, and that was 3 years and 200k miles ago. It was off the road just long enough to pull the bumper out of the tire.

Volvo XC90. It's been out since 2003 without major changes. That being said, I would recommend it to anyone. When my Vo was in the shop, the dealer gave me the choice of a 2014 S60, 2014 XC60, and 2014 Xc90. I gave the XC90 a chance, given it was it's last year.
I have never been in a car that I've felt so safe. I don't think their are many cars out there that have such a thud when you close the door. It's still stylish as well.
